Fieldwork Education has developed new core documentation to support the implementation and development of the International Middle Years Curriculum (IMYC). The three new guides have been designed to benefit our members and users of the IMYC in schools all around the world
A) IMYC Curriculum Guide
B) IMYC Implementation Guide
C) IMYC Self-Review and Accreditation Guide
This Curriculum Guide for the IMYC aims to provide an introduction and overview of the IMYC to schools, with the view to help schools’ understanding of the design and philosophy of the IMYC. The guide includes details of the IMYC Personal, International and Subject Learning Process and the IMYC ‘Process of Learning’ as well as explaining the IMYC approach to Assessment for Learning.
The Implementation Guide for the IMYC aims to provide teachers and leaders with advice on how to implement and review the curriculum successfully. This helpful guide includes an overview of how to plan IMYC units of learning, as well as guidance for teaching and leading the IMYC curriculum within your school and the IMYC Route Planner.
The Self-Review and Accreditation Guide for the IMYC aims to provide teachers and leaders within the school with a detailed set of criteria and standards that are required for a school to be externally accredited and reaccredited by Fieldwork Education for its implementation of the IMYC. The Self-Review and Accreditation Guide contains the 2nd Edition IMYC Self Review rubrics which were introduced in August 2019.
When asked about the new documents Therese Andrews, Head of the International Primary and Middle Years Curriculum said ‘These new core documents will support schools in their initial implementation of the IMYC as well as in their ongoing efforts towards achieving a high quality curriculum offer. We hope that the reflective questions provided will help schools to reflect and ultimately improve learning for their students.’
